Pictures from the pig-butchering part of my weekend in Moravia are now posted -- see them here!
Notice that the verbs "butchering" and "slaughtering" have maybe a more violent connotation than what we did. There is some blood involved though, so if that bothers you, beware. I thought the process was really interesting though.

I love the story of the butcher on the pics...very entertaining!
But...lets be honest...didn't they at least dare eachother to eat the sack of pig urine?!?!
Erin - I am for some reason - speachless (for the first time in my natural life.) This is ...weird - even for you!

I agree to Veronica's comments. I would feel the same but that is one fat pig, makes my mouth water thinking of pork roast!

My two sisters and I had raised a pig which we girls butchered ourselves for the first time.
Quiet daunting at first but there is nothing like the taste of a freshly butchered pork.

There should be more women like Rachael and her sisters who can slaughter a pig. You don't have to rely on men.
You go girls!

it is very interesting to see some women are brave enough to watch a pig slaughtering or even do it.
I am an Iranian and here people usually kill sheep.
HI again.
Erine? would you please send some more photos of slaughtering if you have?
